Four of the twelve share a weekend with at least one other fair on this list, which matters most if you are trying to build a trip around more than one of them.
Maine craft fairs 2026 by month
Craft and artisan events are not spread evenly across the season. One runs in June, one in July, four in August, three in September, two in October, and one in November. The Maine Fiber Frolic opens the season in Windsor on June 6 and 7. The next entry, the Yarmouth Clam Festival in Yarmouth, does not arrive until mid-July.
August is the busiest single month, holding a third of the year's total inside one nine-day stretch. The Wilton Blueberry Festival in Wilton and the Gray Wild Blueberry Festival in Gray both run August 7 and 8, the Maine Boat & Home Show in Rockland runs August 7 through 9, and the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival follows August 14 through 16.
September holds three events: the Laudholm Nature Crafts Festival in Wells on September 12 and 13, the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity September 25 through 27, and the Cornish Apple Festival in Cornish on September 26, one day inside the Common Ground weekend. October holds two, the Freeport Fall Festival in Freeport (October 2 to 4) and Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta in Damariscotta (October 9 to 12). The season closes alone: the Maine Harvest Festival in Bangor runs November 21 and 22, more than five weeks after the previous fair on this list ends.
Which Maine craft fairs are free to enter
Of the 12 events, only one publishes free admission in this dataset: the Yarmouth Clam Festival. The other 11 do not publish an admission price at all, which is not the same as saying they charge. It means the figure was not available to record. If you are planning a multi-fair trip, treat admission as an open question for every event except Yarmouth, and confirm it directly before you go.
Weekends where two craft fairs compete for your time
Four overlap pairs show up among the 12 craft and artisan events, but they group into just two weekend situations. The first is a three-way clash in early August: the Wilton Blueberry Festival, the Gray Wild Blueberry Festival, and the Maine Boat & Home Show all run August 7 through 9, in Franklin County, Cumberland County, and Knox County respectively. Because all three overlap each other, that single weekend accounts for three of the four overlap pairs: Wilton against Gray, Wilton against the Boat & Home Show, and Gray against the Boat & Home Show. The second weekend supplies the fourth pair on its own: the Common Ground Country Fair overlapping the Cornish Apple Festival on September 26, Waldo County against York County.
Every one of these four overlap pairs joins events in different counties. None of this season's craft-fair clashes is a short hop between two fairs in the same county, each is a choice between different parts of the state, so a one-day trip genuinely has to pick a direction rather than a specific fair.
The craft calendar also runs alongside Maine's bigger agricultural fairs, which are not craft-tagged but share the same weekends. The Common Ground Country Fair overlaps both the closing days of Farmington Fair in Franklin County and the opening days of Cumberland Fair in Cumberland County. Eleven of the twelve are tagged family, the lone exception is the Maine Boat & Home Show, tagged cultural and artisan only, with no family tag attached. Five are tagged artisan specifically, the Maine Fiber Frolic, the Boat & Home Show, Laudholm Nature Crafts Festival, Freeport Fall Festival, and Damariscotta Pumpkinfest.
