In Maine usage, a windjammer is a large traditional sailing vessel, typically a two-masted or three-masted schooner, sailing out of Midcoast harbors with passengers aboard for multi-day cruises. The Midcoast fleet is the reason two separate windjammer festivals appear on the 2026 calendar: Boothbay Harbor Windjammer Days in late June and the Camden Windjammer Festival in early September. They are different events in different counties.
Also known as: schooner, tall ship.
