A whoopie pie is two soft, cake-like rounds, traditionally chocolate, sandwiched around a sweet cream filling. It is Maine's designated official state treat and a fixture of bake sales, general stores and fair concession stands across the state. Dover-Foxcroft holds a dedicated one-day festival for it, June 13 in 2026.
