Premium book

The fair's published rulebook of classes, entry rules and prize money.

The premium book is the document a fair publishes each year listing every competitive class it offers, the rules for entering, the entry deadlines and the prize money, called premiums, attached to each placing. Exhibitors work from it the way an athlete works from a rulebook. If you want to enter anything at a Maine fair, from a heifer to a loaf of bread, the premium book is the document that tells you whether you qualify and what the deadline is.
