4-H is a youth development organization delivered in Maine through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Its members raise and show livestock, complete project work and compete in judged classes at agricultural fairs, often in dedicated 4-H barns or show rings. If you see teenagers leading dairy heifers around a ring in white shirts, you are watching a 4-H class. The program is one of the main reasons youth livestock exhibits remain a fixture at Maine fairs.
Also known as: 4-H club, 4-H exhibitor.
